Scalp Micropigmentation SMP

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp, creating the appearance of tiny hair follicles to restore the look of fuller hair.

It is a specialized form of tattooing that can address hair loss, thinning hair and any present scarring on the scalp.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is suited to both men and women.

How does SMP work?

The procedure is broken down into multiple sessions to ensure a natural and even coverage for optimal results.

SMP improves the appearance of thinning hair, a receding hairline, male pattern baldness and androgenic alopecia in women.

It covers scars and provides the look of a closely shaved hair on a bald head.

Tiny micro-needles are used to deposit dots of pigment into the upper dermis, giving density to the scalp.

This procedure is beneficial to both men and women.

SMP is Non-surgical and an alternative to surgical hair restoration methods.

Semi-permanent, while considered long-lasting, the results can fade over time (up to 8 years) and may require touch-up sessions.

We work with you to determine the best course of treatment and color, taking into account your skin tone and hair color.

Hair loss is a concern that many people face. There are may factors that contribute to hair loss. Aging, genetics, conditions like alopecia, medication side effects, stress, diet and many more.

Traditional hair restoration methods, such as hair transplants, often come with high costs, lengthy recovery times and results vary. Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive procedure that creates the appearance of a fuller, thicker head of hair by using specialized needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. Whether you're dealing with balding, thinning hair or alopecia, SMP can provide a natural-looking solution that restores confidence without the need for surgery.

Consultation and Design
The process begins with a thorough consultation to understand your hair loss pattern, desired results and overall goals. During this stage, we design a hairline that complements your facial features and creates a natural look. For our female clients we discuss the thinning concerns that women face due to unbalanced hormones and density work is required to give you a more thicker, fuller appearance.

Initial Treatment Session
Once the design is finalized, the SMP procedure begins. Tiny dots of pigment are applied to the scalp, mimicking the look of hair follicles. This is done layer by layer to ensure the results look natural. Each session typically lasts 3-4 hours, depending on the area being treated.

Touch-Up and Final Results
After the initial session, a follow-up appointment is scheduled to ensure the pigment has settled well into the scalp and to add any necessary adjustments. Typically, 3-4 sessions are required to achieve the full desired effect. The results are semi-permanent and last 6-8 years.

Scalp micropigmentation offers several significant benefits for those dealing with hair loss or thinning.

  • Non-Surgical Solution:
Unlike hair transplants, SMP is a non-invasive procedure that doesn’t require incisions or a long recovery period. It’s a quick and effective way to restore a youthful appearance without the risks and downtime associated with surgery.

  • Low Maintenance:
Once the treatment is complete, the results require very little maintenance. With occasional touch-ups every 3-5 years, you can enjoy the look of a natural hairline without worrying about daily styling or products.

  • Boosted Confidence:
Many clients report a significant increase in their confidence levels after SMP. The procedure helps to reduce the emotional burden of hair loss, allowing individuals to feel more comfortable in social and professional situations.

  • Versatility for All Types of Hair Loss:
SMP works for various types of hair loss, whether you’re experiencing thinning hair, receding hairlines, or complete baldness. It’s also an effective solution for those dealing with alopecia, as it can mimic the appearance of a fuller head of hair.

How Long Do SMP Results Last?

The longevity of SMP results depends on several factors, including your skin type, lifestyle and how well you follow aftercare instructions. On average, SMP can last anywhere from 6-8 years before a touch-up is needed. Regular scalp care and avoiding excessive sun exposure can help extend the life of your results.

How painful is scalp micropigmentation?
The procedure is generally well-tolerated, with most clients describing it as a mild discomfort rather than pain. The scalp's sensitivity can vary, but the discomfort typically subsides quickly.

Will scalp micropigmentation look natural?
SMP creates an incredibly natural look. The small pigment dots are placed precisely to mimic the appearance of natural hair follicles, creating a seamless blend with the rest of your hair.

Scalp micropigmentation can be an effective hair loss solution for a wide range of skin tones. While the degree of contrast varies depending on skin colour, SMP is not "discriminatory" or inherently better suited for specific complexions. It simply means that certain skin tones may require a tailored approach to achieve the best results.

With the right customization, scalp micropigmentation can provide a lasting hair restoration effect that boosts your confidence.

For those seeking a reliable hair loss solution, SMP offers a customizable approach to recreating hairlines, covering thinning areas, or achieving a sharp, shaved look. Keep in mind that skin tone and desired contrast can influence the final result.
