What are skin peels and why do them.
Skin peels is a cosmetic treatment used to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. The solution applied to the skin causes a controlled trauma to the skin, which triggers the skin cells to go into repair phase and begin to regenerate. Peels are used to address acne, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tones and aging concerns.
The ingredients in peels AKA chemical peels.
The word chemical peel scares people into thinking that there are chemicals in the solution of the peel and this may result in skin sensitivity or other more severe skin issues. Peels utilize ingredients that are derived from natural sources.
Common ingredients include;
Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) like glycolic acid from sugar cane, lactic acid from milk or fermented plants.
Beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) like salicylic acid from willow bark.
Other ingredients include Malic acid from apples, Citric acid from citrus fruits, Mandelic acids from almonds.
Fruit enzymes are also used like papaya, pumpkin and pineapple.

Not ALL peels peel !
Some individuals often feel that they will peel like a snake and will not be able to resume their daily activities due to the peeling.
This is not true. Not all peels peel!
Depending on the strength of the peel used to treat your skin and for what concerns.
Just because you don't peel after a peel doesn't mean that the treatment hasn't worked. The peel works from the inside of the skin and pushes new cells up. So you would still get a great result from your treatment without the peeling. Some peels are created with this in mind.
I offer the PCA no peel peel that is great for treating skin conditions such as mild discoloration, acne and aging as a preventative measure which is gentle enough for sensitive skin types.
Then there are deeper peels that are herb based such as the Green Peel
The Green Peel results in total regeneration of new skin in 5 Days!
Now the question is, is there such as thing as a peel season. Should one have a peel done in the summer months.
Well think about those who live in hot climates such as Florida, Australia, India or the Caribbean. When do they have a peel season. They don't! you can have a peel done at any time of the year but be sensible.
Limit sun expose on the treatment area whether the treatment is carried out on the face, back or anywhere else on the body.
ALWAYS wear a SPF of 50+ during the summer months and SPF 30+ in the Canadian winter months to prevent and maintain your skins integrity.
